Incredible moment a huge dust devil swirls yards away from passing cars in Arizona

2018-06-13 18:01
Astonishing footage shows a massive dust devil sweeping through Arizona. The swirling cloud was caught on camera by a passing motorist as it ripped up dust in the San Tan Valley. Flagpoles lining the road show the scale of the massive whirlwind-shaped cloud. A piece of construction equipment at the base of the dust funnel is made to look like a miniature toy. The video was posted online by Nicole Rychell Sullivan, who added the caption, “biggest dust cloud I've ever seen.” Arizona is under an excessive heat warning, with temperatures expected well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday and Thursday. Parts of the state have not seen rain for an extended period of time. These are conditions for more dust devils to occur, as experts say they form as superheated air at the ground rises and meets cooler air, drawing loose sand and other debris upwards.
