President Donald Trump spoke to a group of state and local veterans leaders at the White House Thursday and expressed "the eternal gratitude and thanks" of the entire nation.
Trump touted his administration's policies and commitment to support veterans and their families, saying at one point, "I've done a lot... It's more than anybody's ever even thought about. And I'm proud of it."
The remarks follow a visit to the Marine Barracks in Washington to meet with marines who responded to a recent fire at a public housing complex in the nation's capital.
Trump was criticized for canceling a trip to an American cemetery in Paris on Saturday after his helicopter was grounded by bad weather. He also did not visit Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate Veterans Day.
