Smoke and Ash Rise From Iconic Japanese Volcano as Eruptions Continue

Japan’s Shinmoedake volcano, which was featured in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice, streamed smoke and ash on March 10, as a series of eruptions that began on March 6 continued. The Japan Meteorological Agency extended the caution zone surrounding the mountain from three to four kilometers on March 10, and warned that windows might be broken due to shaking caused by the eruptions.
