San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo announced Tuesday that the Digital Inclusion Fund will help bridge the digital divide. About 50,000 households are expected to have universal access over the next 10 years, thanks to the fund.
The city council approved the fund on February 12 with a unanimous vote.
Under the fund, low-income families will have access to low-cost internet plans and refurbished devices. Both young and old will have access to programs that will give them the necessary skills to understand the digital world.
