Hollywood designer

Former Hollywood fashion designer Arlene Perler felt inspired and transcended after watching Shen Yun at the Performance Center of Purchase College, New York, on March 22. "What was so inspirational is that it seems the season this year, all these vivid bright colors are in style. So I felt very inspired to go into my closet and put together some of the fabrics and colors," Mrs. Perler said. "We came to the show this evening after working. [We] had a long day working, we were tired and it [Shen Yun] was very relaxing, transcended us to a higher spiritual place of beauty and peace," she added. "And the dancing was beautiful and fluid, and the gentle acrobatics and turns of the dancers was breathtaking." She came with her husband who loves music. As a piano player himself, Shen Yun’s music caught his attention. "I love the performance. Having watched American ballet for since I'm a little kid and have played the piano most of my life. Most of the Chinese music I've heard has been more dissonant, this was very harmonic," Mr. Perler said. Mrs. Perler added that Shen Yun's performance has a profound meaning behind each of its stories. "It made me realize that people have a universal wish for peace and beauty on this planet," she said. "No matter where we are, we have the same message of hope and for a higher spiritual goal." It made her want to know more about it and share it with others. "And I want to go back and read the program and find out more about what I saw. There's so much depth to what we saw," she added. "It was a wonderful evening, I will share that with people."
