Ready to get a new Instagram picture?
This week you will get the chance to visit
Ichiran’s summer festival, only in Brooklyn.
Try out the traditional Yukata.
This lightweight version of the Kimono
was often worn during the summer in Japan.
Yukata were originally used as bath wear,
a cooling garment to wear after taking a bath.
Of course, you can not miss the Japanese games.
Want to challenge your patience and gentleness?
Try out Kendama.
Toss the ball and attempt to catch it in one of the cups
or spear it with the point of a stick.
Kendama arrived in Japan from the West
around the 17th century.
Daruma whack is a traditional game played with a daruma doll.
It's a representation of the Buddhist monk
Bodhidharma, who lived in the 5th or 6th century.
The challenge is to knock down other blocks
without knocking the Daruma doll off the top.
And you can’t miss
the traditional ring toss game.
Small snacks are available as rewards.
Sake is sold from the counter.
The best part after playing the games
is enjoying the Japanese ramen.
Ichiran, the most popular ramen spot in Japan,
has unique sitting places
and a customizable ramen broth.
The festival is only available at the Brooklyn branch,
from 8/17 - 9/3.
The games are free for everyone who wants to try them out.
