Cannabis 'more harmful than alcohol' for teen brains

Cannabis causes long-term damage to teen brains, a new study shows. Previous studies only showed a statistical correlation between drug use and reduced cognitive functions. But Canadian researchers have now established cannabis use actually causes reduced brain function. The effect of cannabis on the brains of teenagers was worse than alcohol. The study also showed how cannabis may work as a “gateway drug” to other substances by reducing the brain’s capacity to reject addictive impulses.
