Infant found alive in rubble after Russian gas blast
Russian Authorities Rescue Baby From Rubble of Collapsed Apartment Building
Emergency responders rescued a 10-month-old baby found in the rubble of a collapsed apartment block in the Russian city of Magnitogorsk on January 1.
The baby, a boy, was severely injured but conscious and doctors believed the outlook was positive, TASS reported.
The apartment block collapsed on December 31 following an explosion.
Russian authorities said on January 1 that five survivors and seven bodies had been recovered from the rubble. Another 37 people were still missing.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said they were looking into the explosion as a criminal case due to suspected negligence. They said they were working on the assumption that the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
