There are 20 U.S. states currently considering these laws, but the ideas are becoming increasingly controversial, as people look to countries like Canada to see where the laws could lead. People are being recommended assisted suicide as if it were a normal medical procedure, even when they haven’t requested it. And there is growing concern over assisted suicide being offered to people with mental disabilities, or even to children.
