Arabel Alva Rosales serves on the Chicago mayor’s Fashion Council. She has been described in Chicago Magazine as a “Renaissance Woman” because of her ability to discuss concerns on global issues. She attended Shen Yun for the first time at Civic Opera House in Chicago on Dec. 28. "I’m enjoying it a lot. I love the dancing. It’s the precision of it, and everything, but also the colors, and the music, it’s just very entertaining," said Arabel Alva Rosales, president and CEO of AAR & Assocs. LTD, and co-founder of Latino Fashion Week. "So that’s another thing that I’m enjoying, because as I mentioned the colors are just so beautiful, and so, a lot of the designers we end up dealing with also do a lot of designs for costumes, and so it’s so beautiful. It’s just very intricate, tons of different colors, and just beautiful. Such a beautiful feel." "I thought it was wonderful. It's very nice, the colors are beautiful, the choreography was great and was very captivating," said Baron D. Harmon, attorney at Favil David Berns and Associates. "The storyline is good and I really enjoyed it." Jill Webb, a law firm owner appreciated Shen Yun’s display of time-honored Chinese culture. "I think to get back to our original core values as human beings," said Jill M. Webb, principal attorney at Law Office of Jill M. Webb, "and get away from some corruptness, it’s not all about money, I think those kinds of things. " "I think it’s very important that you always go back to your culture," Rosales added. "And when you understand your culture and your roots, it makes you a lot more, I believe, self-assured of where you come from, and it also allows you to understand history well, so you don’t repeat a lot of the same mistakes that are made."
